Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray has been offered a one-week suspension from AFL Match Review officer Michael Christian for his head-high hit on West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern.

The first-quarter collision left McGovern dazed and momentarily sprawled on the ground. He eventually was forced to leave the field and did not take any further part in the game.

If Gray decides against challenging the suspension, he will miss the Power's season opener against Fremantle at Adelaide Oval on March 24.

But Gray can challenge his ban at the tribunal in a move which would cost his club $10,000.

Under the revamped tribunal system, Gray's suspension can't be increased but, if he loses his appeal, the $10,000 would not be refunded.

Meanwhile, Melbourne young gun Clayton Oliver can accept a $1500 sanction for misconduct against North Melbourne's Ben Jacobs and Port Adelaide ruckman Paddy Ryder has been offered a $2000 fine for striking West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff.

In the AFL women's competition, Collingwood's Lauren Tesoriero was charged with engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne's Bianca Jakobsson during Saturday's fixture in Alice Springs.

Tesoriero can accept a reprimand without appearing before the tribunal.
