Melbourne spearhead Jesse Hogan will be free to face the Western Bulldogs this weekend after avoiding a suspension from the match review officer.

Hogan instead copped a $1500 fine for misconduct on Fremantle’s Lachie Neale in Darwin on Saturday night.

Hogan was one of 12 players to be offered fines by Michael Christian on Monday.

Port Adelaide’s Brad Ebert ($1500 sanction), Hawthorn’s Blake Hardwick ($1500), Melbourne co-captain Nathan Jones ($2000) and Gold Coast’s Alex Sexton ($1500) can also accept fines for misconduct on St Kilda’s Luke Dunstan, the Bulldogs’ Patrick Lipinski, Neale and North Melbourne star Shaun Higgins respectively.

Lions captain Dayne Zorko was offered a $2000 sanction for making unreasonable contact to the eyes of Carlton counterpart Marc Murphy.

Melbourne veteran Jordan Lewis ($2000) and Suns co-captain Steven May ($2000) both avoided suspensions for striking Fremantle forward Michael Walters and Higgins respectively while Port Adelaide forward Lindsay Thomas was offered a $2000 fine for engaging in rough conduct against St Kilda defender Logan Austin.

Meanwhile, Brisbane’s Rhys Mathieson ($1000) sanction, St Kilda gun Jade Gresham ($1500) and North Melbourne midfielder Ben Cunnington ($1500) were sanctioned for making careless contact with an umpire.

Brisbane big man Oscar McInerney was cleared of striking Carlton’s Matthew Kennedy and Essendon star Devon Smith was also cleared of his sling tackle on Collingwood’s Jack Crisp.
