Collingwood’s AFL Women’s season has gone from bad to worse with captain Steph Chiocci set to miss the rest of the season due to suspension.

AFL match review officer Michael Christian slapped Chiocci with a two-game ban for her crude head-high hit on the Western Bulldogs’ Libby Birch.

With two games left in the home-and-away season, the bottom-of-the-ladder Magpies will have to wait until next year before Chiocci next features in their line-up if she accepts her penalty.

Birch didn’t escape Christian’s wrath either, though, after the Bulldog copped a reprimand for striking Collingwood’s Mo Hope in a mistimed spoil.

Reprimands were also dished out to Hope’s teammate Britt Bonnici and Birch’s teammate Emma Kearney for misconduct after they engaged in a scuffle on the boundary line.

Meanwhile, Adelaide’s Deni Varnhagen and Eloise Jones were charged with forceful front-on contact and rough conduct respectively and can accept reprimands, while Bulldog Kirsten McLeod can accept a reprimand for tripping.
