All footy finals played in Victoria will be protected by tough anti-scalping laws after new laws passed through state parliament this week.

The new rules make it illegal to sell tickets to “declared events” for more than 10% above face value.

All the finals played in Victoria will be given declared event status.

Until now the grand final has been the only match designated as a declared event.

More games like the Anzac Day match and other major home and away games may also be made declared events.

Other events like concerts could also be eligible.

The new laws will come into force in June.
