Ex-West Coast winger Andrew Embley has made a harsh call on misfiring Fremantle forward Michael Walters’ form, suggesting he needs play some games for Peel Thunder in the WAFL.

Walters struggled to make an impact in his 100th game, picking up just 13 touches, three marks, three inside fifties and not affecting the scoreboard at all.

Speaking on Mix 94.5's coverage of the Western Derby, the entire Triple M commentary team were stinging in their assessment of Walters.

But it was 2006 Norm Smith Medalist Embley who went hardest.

“He might have to spend a bit of time in the WAFL because he’s had a really poor start to the season,” Embers said.

“He’s a quality player but at the moment his confidence is down and he’s been a bit undisciplined at times as well.”

West Coast won the derby 16.7 (103) to 9.8 (62), with Josh Kennedy booting 6.2 and Elliott Yeo picking 32 touches and 14 marks.

The result saw the Eagles up to sixth on the ladder with a 4-2 record, while Freo are evens at 3-3 and sit 10th after six rounds.
