Andrew Gaff has been suspended for eight weeks.

A dejected Gaff pleaded guilty to striking Fremantle's Andrew Brayshaw during the third term of the West Coast/Fremantle clash on Sunday.

The West Coast star told the tribunal he never intended to make contact with Brayshaw's jaw, intending to hit him in the chest as he did moments earlier.

"I meant to him in the chest. I feel sick that I hit Andrew in the face," he told the tribunal on Tuesday night.

"(I had) absolutely no intention to hit him where I hit him. I tried to do a similar hit as to what I did about 10 seconds earlier with my right arm."

AFL legal counsel Jeff Gleeson QC initially proposed a suspension of eight to 12 weeks, while West Coast's legal counsel David Grace QC submitted a penalty of that length was "manifestly excessive".

Medical evidence from Fremantle's Dr Ken Withers said Brayshaw's teeth were displaced "a couple of centimetres into his mouth", and will likely require dental implants in the future.

Andrew Gaff's punch, Josh Jenkins' goal and can North Melbourne make the eight? It's all on the agenda for Damo's Recovery Session on Triple M's Rush Hour.
