Former North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow will play for NEAFL side Aspley next season.

The Hornets announced the signing this morning.

Swallow had wanted to join his brother David on the Gold Coast, but the club didn’t pick him up.

He has still made the move to Queensland with his family to play for the Brisbane based club.

“We were looking for a move out of Melbourne and we were looking for some warmer weather and a change of lifestyle,” Swallow told the NEAFL website.

“David is about to have a child at the end of February so ideally it would have been great to go to Gold Coast, but when things fell through… we still thought of a move out of Melbourne.”

Swallow played 224 games for North between 2006-2017, and captained the club from 2012-2016.

He won the Syd Barker Medal as the Roos best and fairest three times.
