Port Adelaide forward Angus Monfries has announced his retirement.

Monfries ends his career after 211 games and 248 goals across 13 years at Port Adelaide and Essendon.

“I have had a wonderful opportunity to be a part of two great football clubs,” Monfries told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“It’s been a privilege to be associated with some fantastic people in our sport and establish lifelong relationships that I’ll value forever."

Monfries joins Nathan Krakouer as retirements at Port Adelaide this off-season.

The 31-year-old says, although his playing days are over, he wants to stay in the industry.

“AFL has been a huge part of my life. While my time playing at the highest level has come to an end, I’m looking forward to making a valuable contribution to the industry in some way," he said.
