The AFL is set to trial another new rule in the VFL this weekend, tweaking the boundary throw-in.

The Northern Blues - who participated in a trial last round - confirmed in a statement on their website they would participate in another trial against Sandringham this weekend.

The extended goal square and centre bounce set up of six forward ,six midfielders and six defenders will continue.

The AFL will also trial boundary throw-ins taking place five metres inside the line, rather than from the boundary line.

“Similarly to last week, as a club we’re open to assisting the AFL and AFL Victoria in whatever way possible for this Saturday’s game,” Northern Blues general manager Len Villani said.

“We’re looking forward to being part of this initiative again as well as facing the challenge of Sandringham at Preston City Oval in front of our members and supporters.”

The match kicks off at 2 pm on Saturday, August 18.
