Jaeger O'Meara is still a while from returning - with coach Alastair Clarkson admitting he's still at least 3 weeks away.

Since joining the Hawks at the end of last season, the boom recruit has only managed four games at the top level.

He was a late withdrawal in Round 7 and has not played since with the same knee complaint.

The Hawks, however, insist his current injury woes are not related to the condition that plagued him for the previous 2 season.

"(O'Meara)'s going along OK. We're hoping he'll be able to step it up over the next few weeks," Clarkson said.

"We probably wouldn't anticipate he plays before the bye (in round 13, on the weekend of June 17 and 18), but his training's been really strong."

"We've got a really good conditioning block into him and he's progressing well through that and will be back into full training pretty soon, I reckon."
