Geelong coach Chris Scott will lead Australian in the next International Rules series - with twin Brad Scott and Fremantle coach Ross Lyon to line-up as assistants.

The two-test series against Ireland will take place in Australia this October and November.

Chris Scott had previously served as an assistant coach underneath Alastair Clarkson.

"The Australian team for the Virgin Australia IRS matches will again be comprised only of players who have been nominated as an All Australian at some point during their careers, and the AFL was seeking an All Australian coach, which is one of our premiership coaches, to head the panel to lead our elite players," interim operations manager Andrew Dillon said.
