Triple M Footy’s Billy Brownless believes Hawthorn are good enough to win the premiership this season.

The Hawks are sitting pretty in fourth spot on the ladder with two weeks left in the home-and-away season, having won eight of their last 10 games.

With super coach Alastair Clarkson at the helm, the sky is the limit for the Hawks this year, according to Bill, despite Richmond being the premiership favourites.

“The Hawks are just coming along nicely,” Billy said on Triple M’s Rush Hour during The Midweek Rub.

“They’ve got Alastair Clarkson and they play finals ... they’ve played a lot of footy a lot of them and you wouldn’t want to play Hawthorn in the finals.”

James Brayshaw wouldn’t put it beyond Hawthorn to beat Richmond in the first week of the finals if they happened to play each other.

As the ladder currently stands, the Tigers (first) and Hawks (fourth) would do battle in the first qualifying final in just over three weeks’ time which, incidentally, would be their first ever meeting in the finals.

JB reckons Hawthorn’s ‘x-factor’ might be enough to cause a major upset if they meet Richmond.

Brian Taylor disagrees and believes GWS are the only “genuine challengers” to the Tigers.
