Triple M Footy’s Billy Brownless has revealed that he didn’t receive a very warm welcome at Kardinia Park on Monday following his criticism of Geelong during their 11-point loss to Hawthorn on Saturday.

A frustrated Billy labelled the Cats’ midfield as lazy during the second quarter of the MCG blockbuster clash while calling the game for Triple M Footy – comments which drew some criticism from coach Chris Scott and star midfielder Patrick Dangerfield, although Scott insisted he was only joking.

Billy denied that he was summonsed by the club on Monday morning and insisted that he had a pre-organised appointment at Geelong’s home base to discuss an upcoming breakfast.

But it turned out that Scott and Dangerfield weren’t the only club figures unimpressed with his comments.

“Well, I walked in and (Geelong CEO) Brian Cook was sitting right there and I said, ‘Hey, Cooky! How are ya mate?’ He said, ‘I’m busy Bill’,” Billy said on Triple M’s Rush Hour

Billy’s Rush Hour co-host James Brayshaw found Scott’s and Dangerfield’s reaction to Billy’s comments surprising, and suggested that their protestations may have indicated that Billy’s comments were in fact accurate.

“For the 20 years I’ve known ‘Fat’ (Billy), no one has blown more wind up the Geelong Football Club’s freckle than that bloke,” JB said.

“He’s dead set turned them into a zeppelin you could see from Mars, so much wind has he (blown up them). So the first time he’s critical and they filthy up!”
