Chaos has reigned after a boxer’s coach punched his opponent following a disqualification.

The bout between Jose Uzcategui and Andre Dirrell ended after Uzcategui punched Dirrell twice after the bell ending the eighth round.

Dirrell stayed down after the punches, and Uzcategui was disqualified.

Dirrell’s uncle Leon Lawson took exception to the late hits, and stormed into the ring to talk to Uzcategui’s camp.

He then threw two punches at Uzcategui, catching him off-guard and hitting him in the jaw and upper chest.

Dirrell apologised for his uncle’s actions.

I'm very sorry for what my coach has done, but he loves me,” Dirrrell said.

“That's my man, that's my uncle, that's my brother, that's my coach."

Local police are now seeking Lawson for questioning.
