Triple M’s Brendan Fevola believes GWS veteran Steve Johnson could face the axe after his game against Geelong.

Johnson was below his best in the loss on his Kardinia Park return, with just eight disposals - a team low - and two score involvements.

He failed to hit the scoreboard, laid just two tackles and gave away two free kicks, spending just 66% of time on ground.

Fev feared his form could mean it “might be the last time” Stevie J graces the turf.

“I reckon this might be the last time we see Stevie J play a game of football,” he said during the last quarter of Triple M's Geelong/GWS call.

“What the great man’s put up today, back at his home turf, (I) can’t see him playing round one of the finals.”

Over his last four games, Johnson has averaged 12 disposals, 2.8 tackles and kicked two goals, both against Melbourne in round 20.

Swatta mooted a possible replacement up forward in Matt de Boer, who was left out of the side to make way for Johnson this weekend.

“Matt de Boer made way for Stevie J,” he said.

“He’d been good, de Boer,” Fev responded.
