GWS recruit Brett Deledio has announced Round 14 as his planned return date to the AFL to debut for the Giants.
In Round 14 the Giants travel to the Gabba to face the Brisbane Lions.
Deledio has been battling with a right calf injuries since crossing over from Richmond over the off season.
He has been building his training base over the past few weeks with no interruptions.
Deledio spoke to News Corp this afternoon.
“I’ve jumped a few hurdles in the last few weeks. Yesterday was the hurdle we needed to jump to get over the hoodoo. I’ve got a lot of running sessions under my belt which is more than what I’ve been able to do in recent history," he said.
"I’m hoping to be back there around the bye. I’m itching to be playing footy and rapt to be outside running rather than inside and cross-training.
“To start with I wasn’t frustrated at all and was getting fit and fitting in with the boys. Post-Christmas I had an early setback which moved me to a five. Then I had another and was up to a seven and then nearly a 10. I went really slow with it this time. I built up the calf and made it really strong. We’re in a good place at the moment but it’s still slowly slowly.”
