Brian Lake’s stint in a Japanese jail has come to an end, according to the Herald Sun.

The Norm Smith medallist had been detained in a police cell in Osaka after an alleged altercation in a bar last Sunday morning.

He walked free without charge at around 5:30pm Melbourne today after spending five nights in lock-up.

Lake had to apologise to the victim of the alleged incident.

Japanese law meant that he could have been held for up to 23 days without charge, but managed to fast track the process.

He was being assisted the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and his manager Marty Pask, who flew into Osaka on Wednesday.

Lake had been in Japan playing in a footy tournament.

Mark Ricciuto explained on Triple M Footy why the Crows gave Rory Sloane a five year deal.
