Triple M Footy’s Brian Taylor has taken a swipe at Adelaide captain Taylor Walker for his dramatic change in tune at how he’s treating wantaway teammate Mitch McGovern, compared to Jake Lever last year.

BT said Walker made life unbearable for Lever last year ahead of his move to Melbourne, to the point where the defender became depressed.

McGovern has declared that he wants out of the Crows despite having two years left on his contract.

“Guess what he (Walker) is saying (about McGovern)? 'That’s OK, that’s all good, I want to have a bit of a chat to him, that’s nice' – gee, he’s changed his bloody tune,” BT told Triple M’s Rush Hour during The Midweek Rub.

“It did a lot of damage to him (Lever) and it was unfair.

“I went over to his (Lever’s) house, and I was there for a couple of phone calls last year and I was shocked at the way they were treating a guy that was about to play in a grand final for them, about to try to help them win and fulfil his obligation for that year.”

James Brayshaw observed that Adelaide have a huge “departure issue” given that McGovern now joins the likes of Lever, Jack Gunston, Paddy Dangerfield, Phil Davis, Kurt Tippett and Nathan Bock as star players who have decided to leave the Crows.

“Good clubs don’t lose players they want to hang on to as a rule,” JB said. “Everyone says there’s the come-home factor but it hasn’t affected Port Adelaide anywhere near as badly or West Coast or Freo.”
