Triple M Footy’s Brian Taylor believes Melbourne will miss out on the finals yet again this year.

BT reckons the Demons’ mounting injury toll has now got to a stage where it will prevent them from finishing in the top eight.

While Melbourne are expected to regain Michael Hibberd (quad) and Jake Melksham (hamstring) this week, they will have to play the rest of the year without Jesse Hogan (foot), Jake Lever (knee) and Bernie Vince (AC joint) while Jack Viney (toe) won’t be available until the finals.

“Melbourne I think they’re going to drop out – they’re just running out of soldiers,” BT told Triple M’s Rush Hour during The Midweek Rub.

“They’re struggling to beat teams above them ... they’ve got West Coast in Perth this Sunday, now West Coast over there are really hard to beat.

“And then they’ve got GWS so I think they’re in trouble, Melbourne.”

Damian Barrett agreed and said you can “put a line through” the Demons which means their September drought would extend to a 13th year next season.
