Brisbane's list changes have continued, with the club letting go of five players.

Claye Beams, Michael Close, Reuben William, Matthew Hammelmann and Cian Hanley have all been told they will not receive a contract for next season.

Beams is the most senior of the five, playing 54 games for the Lions across eight seasons on the list.

Close played 27 games up forward for the Lions, while Hammelmann and William struggled to cement their place in the seniors, playing 12 and three AFL games respectively.

Hanley, the brother of former Lion Pearce, struggled with injury and failed to make his debut.

“We are grateful for Michael, Claye, Reuben, Matthew and Cian’s contribution during their tenures with the Lions,” list manager Dom Ambrogio told lions.com.au.

“This time of year is always difficult, especially letting five good people go. We wish them the best in their AFL careers and hope they have another opportunity soon.”

It leaves the Lions with plenty of space on their list to stock up on youth, with the club holding three picks in the first round and another three in the third round.

“We go in with a really strong hand, with three draft picks in the first round,” Ambrogio said.

“We are confident the selections will help set our club up for future success."
