More good news Melbourne fans! The Casey Demons have booked themselves an appearance in the VFL Grand Final with a hard-fought victory over Essendon at North Port Oval.

Just one day after the senior Demons advanced to their first preliminary final since 2000, their VFL counterparts took care of business in difficult conditions to win by eight points.

An abundance of Melbourne listed players made their case for what seems an unlikely call up given the current form and health of the AFL side.

Bernie Vince (22 disposals and a goal) kept his dream alive as he made a successful return from a dislocated shoulder, getting through the match unscathed.

Jeff Garlett (three goals) and Cam Pederson (two goals) were effective for the Demons in attack, accounting for half the teams goals.

Whilst forgotten forward Tom Bugg continued his stellar VFL form, knocking down the selectors' door with 22 disposals.

In what has become a remarkable trend, the last five AFL premiers' VFL sides have played off in the grand final... Is this a sign of things to come?
