Geelong coach Chris Scott says that Gary Ablett will play against Melbourne on Sunday.

Scott was quizzed directly about Ablett’s availability on AFL 360.

“Is Ablett playing Sunday?” host Gerard Whateley asked.

“Yeah, he’ll be fine,” Scott said.

“So let’s — no, no, I’ll just say it: he’s playing.”

Ablett come to the Cats from Gold Coast over the off-season, with pick 19 and this year's second round pick going to the Suns.

The Cats also got pick 24 and this year's fourth round pick from the Suns.

Ablett played 192 games for the Cats between 2002 and 2010, and a further 110 for Gold Coast between 2011 and 2017.

He won two flags and a Brownlow in his first stint at Geelong, as well as three Leigh Matthews Medals as the MVP and four All-Australian guernseys.

Ablett went on to win another Brownlow, two more Leigh Matthews Medals and four more All-Australian selections in his time at the Suns.

He'll wear number four in his second stint at the Cats.
