Collingwood legend Lou Richards has sadly passed away at the age of 94.

Richards played 250 games and kicked 423 goals for the Magpies between 1941 and 1955 and captained them to their 1953 premiership.

After his playing career, Richards became a giant of footy media and is credited as being one of the pioneers of footy broadcasting.

Lou was involved in some of the sport's most iconic TV programs such as World Of Sport, League Teams and the Sunday Footy Show.

He was also a much-loved footy commentator, on both TV and radio, and sports journalist.
