It's been a season with not a whole lot for Magpies supporters to smile about.

But now, Collingwood assistant Brenton Sanderson has confirmed that father-son Josh Daicos will make his long-awaited debut for the club this weekend - Alex Oates from The Geelong Advertiser reports.

The 18-year old has previously been named as an emergency, but the son of legendary Peter Daicos is going to line up against Geelong at the MCG.

Daicos was taken under father-son rule in last year's draft at pick 57.

“Obviously (Daicos) has been on the cusp with the carry-over (from the VFL) last week, and has had really solid form through the VFL,” coach Nathan Buckley said.

“Our VFL program has been in good nick so we know that the guys that will be called upon will have opportunities to fulfil a role and they’ll be in form.”

The full teams will be released tonight for this weekend's footy.
