Collingwood youngster Jaidyn Stephenson has capped off a fantastic rookie year by winning the 2018 Rising Star award.

Stephenson polled a record-breaking 52 votes - 10 clear of Adelaide’s Tom Doedee (42) and 20 clear of Brisbane’s Alex Witherden (32).

The previous record was set by Essendon’s Andrew McGrath with 51 last year.

Stephenson, who was taken at pick No.6 in last year’s draft, has booted 34 goals this year and averaged 12 touches in his 22 games.

The 19-year-old becomes the Magpies’ first Rising Star winner, leaving Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and GWS as the only clubs not to win the award yet.
