Damian Barrett has said there is a little talk Adam Treloar could have a recurrence of a previous groin issue.

Treloar was ruled out of Collingwood's clash with GWS on Saturday.

He revealed during the week he had been battling soreness in his hip, and more notably in his groin, with the Pies' recent stretch of short turnarounds.

The Pies star also struggled with his groin at the end of 2015, missing a game late in the season before having groin surgery at the end of the year.

That surgery came with some controversy, with Treloar having the operation on his groin in secret while still a GWS player, but without the club's knowledge.

Barrett says there is some "small talk" that the two are related.

"The small talk going around is that there may be a recurrence of the groin problems which beset him in his latter stages of his GWS time, and required some surgery," he said on the Friday Huddle.

"The club's not saying that's the case.

"But he is out, and they could have done with him in his particular game against GWS."
