Damian Barrett has updated the Brett Deledio injury situation on the Friday Huddle tonight.
Deledio has been unable to get on the park for his new club GWS this season, suffering from calf complaints.
Barrett said the Deledio is at least four weeks away.
“(Deledio) got through the early parts of the pre-season pretty well then had an issue with the recurrence of the calf problems,” Barrett said.
“He’s not gonna be seen on any form of AFL ground now for at least another four weeks from this week, and it may well be longer than that before we see him.
“Then you have to work out does he come straight back into the AFL or does he have to get some time in.
“We could be in a situation where it’s close to the half way point of the season before he’s back there.”
Barrett said the Giants won’t be too shattered though.
“It’s in keeping with what they want him to do,” Damo said.
“They want him there for September so they’ve still got time but it’s not working out the ideal way for them.
Deledio switched to GWS from Richmond in the off-season after playing 243 games for the Tigers.
He only managed 11 matches in 2016 due to injury, however.
