Damian Barrett believes the AFL will look at increasing the number of Thursday night games after next season.

Barrett said at half time of Triple M's coverage of Port Adelaide/Carlton the response to Thursday night footy has been fantastic.

He believes it could reach the point where Thursday night fixtures are a weekly occurrence.

"I reckon it could get that point," he said.

"As it stands we've already had three, and there's five to come, so eight in total.

"I reckon they'll go with that similar number again next year over the course of the 23 weeks of footy, but I reckon there'll be another push beyond that for it to be 10 to 12.

"The networks love it, it's a separate marquee slot, and the broadcasters absolutely love it.

Chris Judd was upbeat about the prospect.

"Only thing better than Friday night footy is Thursday night footy," he said.

"That was a West Coast saying, so maybe we shouldn't be publicising that one!"
