Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett believes coach Alan Richardson could be the next key official to part ways with St Kilda if the Saints lose to struggling Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

St Kilda list manager Tony Elshaug resigned from his post on Friday and was “the first of what is expected to be quite a few changes made at the St Kilda Football Club”, according to Damo.

But if the Saints fail to beat the Suns, who have lost their last two games by a combined 193 points and have scored two of their five lowest ever scores in the same period, Richardson might follow Elshaug out the door at Moorabbin.

“It’s going to be an interesting one for the coach himself Alan Richardson if indeed tomorrow it ends up being quite ugly,” Damo told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Friday.

“Tomorrow, as we know, the afternoon game on the Gold Coast against the equally-problematic Suns team. It’s just the way it works, if he can’t come back to Melbourne with a win against his name after that game, I think all bets are off on all manner of fronts at the Saints because we know that he goes into the game with just the one win and one draw.”

Damo added that while St Kilda hasn’t been conducting an official review of the footy department, their football manager Simon Lethlean has, for all intents and purposes, been reviewing operations for the past six or seven months.
