Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett fears that not much has changed in Collingwood’s game style this year from last year following their opening round 34-point loss to Hawthorn on the weekend.

Damo believes the Magpies “have got problems” and things could go downhill rapidly if things don’t improve in the near future.

Collingwood’s next five games are against the red-hot Giants, bogy side Carlton, 2017 runners-up Adelaide, the improved Bombers and reigning premiers Richmond.

“They’ve got some problems Collingwood,” Damo told Triple M’s Rush Hour

“Again, round one, you shouldn’t as a rule be making sweeping statements but when you look at Collingwood’s body of work over six years, when you look at last year, then you go to round one this year, it is a continuation unless something happens very drastically, very quickly.”

James Brayshaw said Collingwood’s biggest issues are in the forward half.

“They cannot find anyone forward of centre,” JB said.

“Mason Cox got his hands to about 10 and didn’t look like marking any of them.

“Ben Reid took a mark early and kicked a goal and was unsighted for the rest of the game.

“They (Collingwood) got enough of it (the ball), but as soon as they got centre forward, they just absolutely slaughtered it and handed it back to the best-kicking team in football, in my view, Hawthorn.”
