Damian Barrett says that it’s time for clubs to stand up to contracted players who want to leave.

Speaking on the Saturday Rub today, Damo said that Lachie Neale wanting to leave Freo despite being in contract should work as a test case.

“Some club at some stage needs to stand up to these players who are saying ‘I’m out a year before my contract is up’,” Damo said.

“Unless they do, this situation we’ve got now where it’s just a free for all once a player gets a little bit of a problem with someone in his life, they’re out.

“It’s a test for Fremantle this one.”
