Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett says North Melbourne are “well placed” to recruit both West Coast star Andrew Gaff and Port Adelaide speedster Jared Polec at the end of the year.

Speculation has been rife that free agent Gaff has narrowed down who he will sign his next contract with to two clubs – West Coast and North Melbourne.

Meanwhile, it’s all but expected that Polec will accept the Kangaroos’ mega-money offer which the Power simply cannot match. Although a trade will be required to facilitate that.

“The footy industry tells you it’s firming that it’s North Melbourne,” Damo told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Monday.

“Relying on the people I speak to in that player movement space at club level and player agency level, it seems as though they’re well-placed for both.”

Former North Melbourne chairman James Brayshaw added: “They (North Melbourne) are building something really nice but they need outside run.

“I did watch Polec on the weekend and he did two or three things that are exactly what North Melbourne need – outside run.”
