Triple M Footy news breaker Damian Barrett says that North Melbourne’s offer to Port Adelaide star Jared Police may be higher than first reported, and that Port won’t be able to match it.

Speaking on the Friday Huddle ahead of the Essendon v Sydney match at Etihad Stadium, Damo said that the two offers are significantly far apart.

“Jared Polec, out of contract at Port Adelaide, has attracted a massive offer from North and that number is about $700,000 a year for the duration of it, and it may well be higher than that,” Damo said.

“Port Adelaide can not go near that, won’t be going anywhere near that.

“It’s now up to him to either stay for the vastly reduced figure they’ve put to him, and they want to keep him but can’t compete with that figure that is on the table from North Melbourne.”

Damo said the disparity is sizeable.

“I reckon it’s up to $250,000 short - a year,” he said.
