Triple M Footy news breaker Damian Barrett says that Sydney could face scrutiny for their handling of Isaac Heeney’s concussion in the game against Richmond last night.

Heeney hit his head in a contest in the second quarter, and showed symptoms of concussion at half time.

He went on to play briefly in the third term.

Damo says that Sydney may face scrutiny for how they handled the incident, given Carlton were handed a suspended fine for a similar issue involving Cam Polson today.

“The Swans also had an issue with a concussed player last night, Isaac Heeney,” Damo said.

“The footy operations manager Tom Harley at half time — or just as they were coming back on to the ground at half time — I believe admitted to Heeney suffering concussion symptoms.

“We know that Heeney spent some time on the ground in the third quarter, that’s after Tom Harley was saying that.

“So they (the AFL) will have to ask for an explanation around that, they may well be valid and the signs that he showed may well have been below a threshold, but when you hear that and you see the way they’ve reacted to the Carlton footy club on Cam Polson, you’d think there would be at least an explanation required from the Swans.”
