Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett says next year’s AFL fixture will be very different.

The schedule has come under fire this year, with underperforming teams given plum fixtures.

Carlton are tonight playing their fourth Thursday or Friday night game in the first 11 rounds after finishing 16th last year.

Speaking on the Friday Huddle ahead of Carlton's game against Sydney at the SCG, Damo says that Channel 7 will have a bigger influence on next year’s fixture, ensuring stronger teams get the big games.

“We’ll not be seeing Carlton in Friday night games next year, certainly to this amount, we won’t be seeing Brisbane, we won’t be seeing St Kilda, and the way the Bulldogs are going we won’t be seeing them either,” Damo said.

“So it’s gonne be a real big change.”
