Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett did not like the way Essendon forward Joe Daniher celebrated when he kicked his only goal on Sunday against Melbourne.

Daniher’s wayward goalkicking came back with a vengeance at Etihad Stadium when he booted six behinds in the first half.

He kicked one out on the full too and was perhaps fortunate to kick his goal given he initially missed that shot as well before the umpire brought it back for him to retake because he wasn’t behind the mark.

Damo believes there is a time and a place to carry on the way Daniher did and it wasn’t appropriate to do so with his side struggling like they were on the weekend.

“Another thing I didn’t like was ... the smile that he (Daniher) had when he finally got one through,” Damo told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Monday.

“When you’ve got six behinds and you finally jag one, I don’t think it’s a laughing matter - particularly when your team is struggling on the back of those (behinds).

“He was trying to engage in some humour with (Michael) Hibberd who is a former teammate - I think there’s a time and a place and I reckon when you’re kicking as poorly as he is this year, and is over his career, I just didn’t like it.”

A dominant second half saw Melbourne storm to a 38-point win over the Bombers.
