Triple M Footy’s Damien Barrett said he believes that West Coast won’t match North Melbourne’s offer to Andrew Gaff.

“No club has matched any offer under the current free agency system,” Damo said.

“If Andrew Gaff makes the decision that he wants to leave (for North Melbourne), I don’t see West Coast matching the offer even though they can under the rules.”

Damo has previously reported that North Melbourne and West Coast are the front runners for the services of the Carey Grammar product.

The North Melbourne offer is understood to be around $1.2 million a season over seven years — a figure that West Coast can't present after re-signing Jeremy McGovern to a sizeable deal in July.

Under the current AFL free agency rules Gaff is a restricted free agent. This means West Coast can choose to match rival offers, forcing the two clubs to come to a trade agreement.

If a trade cannot be worked out, then the player can choose to enter the draft in order to move clubs.
