Richmond coach Damien Hardwick concedes Dustin Martin has been limited by a corked thigh recently, but is adamant the AFL superstar will play in the preliminary final against Collingwood.

Martin sparked speculation he was under an injury cloud with his early departure from a training session at Punt Road, just a week out from the blockbuster encounter with the Magpies.

Hardwick revealed a knock suffered in the qualifying final win against Hawthorn had caused some bleeding in Martin's knee but the star midfielder was expected to train fully with the main group on Wednesday.

“It’s a pretty significant corkie with bleeding down into his knee that takes a little bit of time to settle,” Hardwick told reporters on Wednesday.

Richmond's general manager of football Neil Balme had previously joked Martin would have to be "kidnapped" to not play against Collingwood.
