Geelong forward Daniel Menzel has signed a one year deal to stay with the Cats according to News Corp.

The 26-year-old had sought a move in the trade period for a longer deal elsewhere, but had been unable to find any interest.

He signed the deal to stay at the Cattery until the end of 2018 yesterday.

Menzel has played 60 games and booted 109 goals for Geelong since coming to the club with pick 17 in the 2009 draft.

He lost three entire seasons of his career to four knee reconstructions between late 2011 and 2014, before making his comeback against Collingwood in 2015.

He has played 37 games and kicked 73 goals for the Cats in the last two season, including a 40 goals in the 2017 season.
