The pre-season can often be a bit rusty.

Banner makers are no different.

Western Bulldogs banner man Danny McGinlay joined Seb Costello's Weekend Breakfast and revealed the Dogs have already stuffed up one of their famous banners.

It was the first one of the year.

"It's already there, the premiership hangover, I'll be honest," he said.

"On our first women's game, the banner was supposed to say 'our sons of the west have proven their best, rejoice now supporters we will unleash the daughters'. You know, cute little thing, sons of the west, daughters of the west.

"Already a little stuff up: the cheer squad accidentally put 'our boys of the west have proven their best'. It just ruined the joke."

Thankfully McGinlay's already figured out how to solve the problem.

"Yeah, we've had 5 am marathons, made them do push ups - poor Jan, her arthritis is kicking in," he laughed.

"That's what (it takes) if you want to maintain, you want to go back to back.

"It's all about accountability Jan, what's going on?!"
