After being delisted by Richmond at the end of this year, Ben Lennon will be attempting to cross codes.
The 22-year-old is chasing a career in the NFL as a punter, following in the footsteps of former players such as Ben Graham, Sav Rocca, Chris Bryan and Cameron Johnston.
ProKick Australia, an organisation that helps players transition into their dream of an American football career, confirmed the story on Monday night.
"Ben will go to college (football) first," they wrote on Twitter.
"We will get him a home that will make his decision well worth it and we have already been in discussions about him with a pretty big university.
"He’ll also get a degree which is great."
Lennon played 21 games for the Tigers across four seasons, kicking 10 goals.
He was initially drafted with pick 12 in the 2013 AFL draft.
