Dennis Cometti has said Nat Fyfe "wouldn't be welcome back" if he turned his back on Fremantle for a mega offer.

Fyfe is a restricted free agent at the end of the year and is expected to receive multi-million dollar offers from other clubs.

Cometti said, after Fyfe took the captaincy at the start of the year, it would be 'unimpressive' if he then left the Dockers a year later and that he'd probably cop a few boos.

"He wanted the captaincy. He would leave here, I think, as a bit of a pariah," he said on Triple M's pre-game coverage of Fremantle/Essendon.

"He wouldn't be welcome back.

"He's made all the right noises, he's said the future will take care of itself, but I'm thinking Fremantle, (if) the fall out was just tossed out suddenly, the supporters would have reason to be unimpressed."

Having said that, Cometti did say Fremantle was well placed to match any offer that comes their way.

Fyfe is a restricted free agent, meaning the Dockers can match any offer that comes from another club.

"A lot of these players at the present time in Fremantle's squad are expendable, aren't they? It's as simple as that," he said.

"You shouldn't say that, but they've proven that by dropping those players and having some success.

"They're very well placed to match any offer that comes up."
