Don Pike has fronted a press conference and confirmed some big selection news for tomorrow night's preliminary final between Adelaide and Geelong at Adelaide Oval.

As expected, vice captain Rory Sloane will play his first game since Round 23 after being hospitalised with appendicitis, replacing the injured Brodie Smith.

This will be Sloane's first competitive footy match in 26 days, and Pyke said the midfield hard nut is busting to get back out onto the field.

"He's looking forward to tomorrow night," Pyke said.

"He's not short of energy is Rory."

However it wasn't all good news for Crows fans, with Pyke confirming high-flying forward Mitch McGovern will miss with hamstring soreness - an injury that has grounded him for a total of ten matches already this season.

Pyke did not confirm who would be coming into the side to replace McGovern.
