Legendary sports broadcaster Drew Morphett has died, aged 69.

Morphett was believed to be found by his wife Karen at their home in Pakenham last night.

It is believed he was watching the clash between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs.

Morphett retired from sport last year after a career spanning five decades.

He called the footy on Channel 7 from 1988 to 2000, alongside a career at the ABC.

He also made his name in cricket, calling every single Test match played in Australia across an eight-year period when ABC shared the rights with Channel 9.

He also called four Olympic Games, as well as golf, basketball and many other sports.

He received an Order of Australia Medal in 2014 for his contribution to sports broadcasting.

It is not believed he was unwell.
