Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin walked away from a media conference yesterday morning as journalists began asking question about his AFL future.
“That’s just between (his manager Ralph Carr) and the club to sort out but I’m here to talk about the Sherrin today,” Martin said at the MCG.
Long-time mentor Port Adelaide premiership coach Mark Williams was beside him and stepped in as soon as the contract questions began.
"No, he's not doing it," Williams said.
When the questions continued Martin thanked everyone and walked away.
Martin then released the following statement on Twitter overnight:
Theres been a lot of talk about FAKE NEWS, and what has been written about me at the Sherrin launch today is just FAKE NEWS.
Selective editing of the video tells a different story as always .
Another article this evening about Ralph & myself is also NOT true. They don't care how it affects people, they just want to get a story in the paper! Stay solid!
