The key dates for next year’s footy season were released today, and Easter and Anzac Day will combine for a footy festival in rounds five and six.

Easter round starts on Thursday 18th April and goes through to Monday 22nd, while Anzac round goes from Wednesday 24th April to Sunday April 29th.

In all, there will be games on at least 11 of the 12 days from the 18th to 29th of April.

Round one of the season starts on Thursday 21st of March, while the bye week between round 23 and the finals has been retained.

The last round of the season is on the weekend of the 23rd-25th of August, while the finals start on Thursday 5th September.

The Grand Final is on Saturday 28th September.

The fixture will retain the regular structure, with one Friday night game, two on Saturday afternoon, one on Saturday twilight, two on Saturday night, and an early, afternoon and twilight Sunday game each.

There will be some irregular rounds built around public holidays, byes and the occasional Thursdays as well.

The AFL has also earmarked some themed rounds.
