Essendon assistant coach Mark Neeld has resigned from his post, according to The Age’s Daniel Cherny.

Neeld had been performance coach but will leave the role effective immediately.

He reportedly told the playing group today.

The resignation comes on the back of a 13-point loss to previously winless Carlton at the MCG on Saturday.

Prior to the move to Essendon Neeld coached at Melbourne, and was sacked midway through 2013 after a horror run.

Senior coach John Worsfold signed a two-year contract extension earlier this year.
