Essendon have delisted former top-up player Matt Dea after three seasons with the club.

Dea joined the Bombers in 2016 when they were decimated by doping bans to a sizeable chunk of their playing list.

The former Tiger performed so well that season that he kept his spot on the list in 2017 and despite only managing six games last year, he was retained this season too.

He ended up playing 39 of his 70 career games with the Bombers.

Dea becomes the sixth player to depart Essendon this post-season following on from fellow delistees Brendon Goddard, Jackson Merrett and Josh Green, Travis Colyer who was traded to Fremantle and Matthew Leuenberger who retired.

The Bombers also welcomed GWS star midfielder Dylan Shiel in the trade period and head to the draft with picks 34, 66 and 84.
