Essendon have re-signed Mark Baguley and Jake Long to new one-year deals that tie the pair to the end of 2019 at least.

Baguley, 31, reinvented himself as an effective pressure-applying small forward this year. He booted 20 goals after heading into 2018 with just three career goals to his name, having spent the majority of his career as a back pocket.

Long, the son of Essendon legend Michael Long, played two games this year and showed impressive signs when he got his chance against Collingwood and Gold Coast.

“I’m extremely excited for next season, we are a young group that are hungry for success,” Baguley said.

“I look forward to another big pre-season and seeing what we can achieve as a team in 2019.”

Baguley has played 124 games in seven years with the Bombers while Long has played five games in four years.
