Essendon has released a statement saying they have not made contact with Dayne Beams about moving to Windy Hill.

Reports emerged on Melbourne radio on Thursday that Essendon would be into Beams if he chose to move back to Victoria to continue his AFL career.

The Bombers have expressed their interest in continuing their momentum from last year's trade period in this year's window, where they managed to pick up Devon Smith, Jake Stringer and Adam Saad.

But they shut that report down, issuing a statement on Thursday afternoon.

“As we do every year, as a club, we will look to improve our list via the trade, free agency and draft periods,” Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said on Thursday.

“Dayne Beams is obviously a quality player and person, but he is not someone we are actively pursuing and we have not approached him or his management about returning to Melbourne.”
